Exhibitions

In advancing the sales of new titles the company seeks to benefit from exhibitions and conferences whenever it is felt these may be helpful in publicising our name or in promoting direct sales.

Exhibitions

On this page are illustrated our recent stands at the world-leading London Book Fair at Olympia, London, and the Political Studies Association (PSA) annual Conference held at the University of Bath. The PSA, together with its related body, the British International Studies Association, has a world membership of over 3,000 leading academics in the fields of the social sciences, and Arena Books seeks to fulfil both their reading and publishing needs.

Prospective authors of monographs or specialised studies, in the spheres of current affairs, history, the arts, or socio-economics, etc., may be surprised (or shocked) to learn of the huge number of titles usually brought out by even small publishers annually, and wonder how they can possibly be given a fair exposure or achieve a satisfactory sales turnover.

Arena Books takes pride in all its authors, making every endeavour to ensure their long-term success through its simultaneous publishing programme in both the UK and the USA. Our sales efforts for all authors are always extended beyond the seasonal launch period of their works. Such a policy, sadly, is now becoming increasingly rare in today’s fast-moving commercial environment.

As publishers we are sufficiently realistic to understand that some books just do not take flight at the time of their initial launch. This is a situation which has always existed in the publishing industry, and it is for that reason, we have adopted the policy of the longer-term in nurturing new authors and their books until they have had the right exposure and a fair chance for commercial success.
