About:

This novel asks, ‘What technology is mankind?’ From the end of the Second World War to the 21st Century, a British research establishment secretly achieves the invention of a being that is not human. The technology comes so close, that an experiment cannot detect the difference – and the college society of Queen Mary in the East End of London continues unaware of an inhuman presence. Sean Heyward, an MI6 agent, uncovers the secret experiment and finds that the original mandate was to create a sinister defensive weapon. His fears grow when he discovers that the secret formula has fallen into the hands of an opposing foreign Power. The experiment unfolds, the enormity of what has been unlocked becomes clear: unpredicted and with devastating results, a student, his true nature unknown even to himself, falls in love with a beautiful female. Dr. Liz Kating, a leading engineer, is horrified by what she and her colleagues have unknowingly unleashed, and she fears for the safety of the girl. A power struggle erupts within the company and an attack is made on the college to reclaim the technology. Discovering his true origin, he fights back to protect the one he has come to love. Britain and America learn of the battle, and chase and fight across the English countryside to capture the fleeing machine; but he realises that there is more at stake than his own survival. The Inorganic transcends the science-fictional to explore the human condition on a philosophical and even theological level. It will even question the nature of life and love.
